Overview
A delicious sheng puer tea from the Banzhang Wuzhai (五寨班章) area, which was pressed in the spring of 2022. The tea leaves come from mature tea trees across five tea villages (Laobanzhang 老班章, Xinbanzhang 新班章, Laomane 老曼峨, Bakanan 坝卡囡, and Bakalong 坝卡竜), within the Bulang Tea Mountain (布朗). This tea was generously provided to us by Qiong, who sources her teas from her relatives living in the Menghai (勐海) area. We have known Qiong since 1998, and during our work trip to Xishuangbanna at the beginning of 2025, we met with her several times over a cup of tea. This tea has a sparkling golden color and a pleasant honey-smoky aroma. When we were drinking this tea at Qiong’s teahouse, we especially appreciated its distinctive sweet-bitter aftertaste with notes of cream and musk, characteristic taste from the Laobanzhang area and one of the reasons why this region is so in demand.
