Overview
The bamboo tea filter is a traditional tool that has been used for hundreds of years to effectively filter out unwanted tea leaves. Bamboo, known for its strength and natural resistance to moisture, is an ideal material for working with tea. This tool is indispensable for any tea lover who wants to enjoy a clean infusion while also appreciating traditional tea craftsmanship. The bamboo tea filter is made from two pieces of crafted bamboo. It is especially suited for teas with a higher occurrence of chopped leaves (especially shucha 熟茶 or lower quality teas), which would otherwise end up in your tea cup. The bamboo tea filter is equipped with a long handler that allows it to be placed on the outer part of tea pitchers (gongdaobei 公道杯), which can also be found on our e-shop. Each piece is unique.

Use

1. Preparation: Ensure the bamboo filter is clean and dry before each use. Prepare your teapot or cup where you will pour the tea.
   
   
2. Filtration: After steeping the tea leaves in hot water, place the bamboo filter over the tea pitcher (gongdaobei 公道杯) or other tea ware. Slowly pour the tea through the filter, which will catch the tea leaves and allow the clean tea to flow into the prepared tea vessel.
   
   
3. Storage: Store the bamboo filter in a dry and well-ventilated place to maintain its properties and longevity. Regular maintenance and proper storage will ensure that your bamboo filter is ready to use whenever you want to enjoy your favourite tea.
   
   
4. Maintenance: After use, rinse the filter thoroughly with clean water and let it air dry completely. The bamboo filter should not be left in a damp environment for extended periods to prevent mould and cracking. Although frequent use may cause the polished part of the filter to crack externally, these cracks often do not affect the tea filtration result. In case of excessive dryness of the bamboo filter, it is advisable to coat the tea filter with food-grade oil and then let it dry in the sun, wiping it dry with a paper towel afterwards. This will give it a shine and reduce the occurrence of cracks.
