Overview
A high-quality, handmade Jianshui teapot with a painted design. The teapot is crafted from purple Jianshui clay (Jianshui Zitao 建水紫陶) and originates from a small pottery workshop in the town of Jianshui (建水) in the southeastern Chinese province of Yunnan. The teapot was made using the Yinkeyangtian (印刻阳填) technique, where the desirable design is first carved and then filled with clay before firing. The teapot is equipped with an internal ceramic bubble-shaped strainer. The history of this type of pottery dates back 3,500 years, and it is one of the four most famous types of Chinese tea pottery.

Before use
For better taste, we suggest preparing one type or a similar type of tea in your teapot (e.g., non-fermented teas such as shengcha 生茶 and Yunnan white tea 白茶 or fermented/oxidized teas such as shucha 熟茶, Yunnan red tea 红茶, or oolong tea 乌龙). We also suggest to boil the teapot in hot water for about 20-30 minutes with your preferred tea. This will help to get rid of residual dust and dirt and better adapt the tea pot to your favourite type of tea. The enhancement of tea taste should be experienced after 4-5 tea sessions, so be patient.
